MANILA, Philippines – For two weeks before and during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Manila in November, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will suspend road works in major routes in the capital region.
The 13 affected roads, DPWH Construction Division chief Edwin Luzon said, are the following:
- Roxas Boulevard
- Bonifacio Drive
- Domestic Road
- Airport Road
- NAIA Road
- Vicente Sotto Street
- Andrew Avenue
- McKinley Road
- Sales Avenue
- EDSA
- Katigbak Street
- South Road
- Arnaiz Avenue
Repairs and construction activities in these roads – which APEC delagates are expected to use – will be temporarily stopped from November 7 to 20.
The APEC summit will be from November 16 to 20, during which classes and work in Metro Manila will be suspended as well.
“Based on the instructions to us, there would be totally no road works along these main routes for APEC. DPWH’s Maintenance Division sent a memo to our district engineers about this,” Luzon said. – Rappler.com
