MANILA, Philippines – Acting Makati City mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña Jr ordered the installation of a help desk to speed up medical services being offered by the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) to its patients.
The help desk, which began operating on Tuesday, November 3, is manned by 8 newly- hired nurses who will be working 24 hours daily in rotational shifts.
According to Peña, his office initiated the move after receiving a number of complaints about the slow processes in the government-run hospital along Sampaguita Street, Barangay Pembo.
The help desk is expected to provide assistance to the hospital staff in getting patients’ information and in conducting triage, the process of determining which patient’s treatment to prioritize based on the severity of his or her condition.
OsMak provides services to about 500 patients daily in the Outpatient Department alone. The hospital also currently has about 270 patients confined for medical treatment.
“Through the help desk, we hope to achieve tangible improvement in the quality of services being provided by the hospital, particularly its outpatient, in-patient, and emergency medical services,” Peña said.
The acting mayor, who replaced dismissed Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr, also appointed Dr Danilo Anastacio as OsMak officer-in-charge in July to help “address the persistent complaints from residents about slow service and inefficient staff.” – Rappler.com
