MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III has designated Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Deputy Director Irene Isaac as officer-in-charge of the agency, following the resignation of TESDA chief Joel Villanueva.
Palace Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr said on Thursday, October 15, that the resignation of Villanueva, who is running for senator, took effect on October 13.
Coloma said the President designated Isaac, who is currently TESDA Deputy Director General for Policies and Planning, as OIC "to avoid the disruption in the rendition of essential government services and to ensure continuity of vital programs, projects and activities of TESDA."
Isaac was appointed TESDA deputy director general in 2012.
In a letter informing Villanueva of the President's decision to accept his resignation, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr thanked the former Cabinet official for his service.
Villanueva is part of the ruling Liberal Party (LP)’s Senate slate, although he is also open to being a “shared candidate” of other presidential candidates. – Rappler.com
