MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A 6.2-magnitude eathquake hit some 92 kilometers north-northwest of Isangel, Vanuatu, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported Tuesday, June 14.
The quake struck at a depth of 131 kilometers, and occurred at approximately 9:49 pm (Manila time).
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. No tsunami warning was issued.
Vanuatu is part of the "Ring of Fire", a zone of tectonic activity around the Pacific that is subject to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. – with reports from the Agence France-Presse/Rappler.com
