MANILA, Philippines – The Abu Sayyaf terror group killed another foreign hostage Monday, June 13.

An intelligence officer of Joint Task Force Sulu confirmed that Canadian Robert Hall was beheaded by the Abu Sayyaf in Talipao, Sulu.

The group's spokesperson Abu Raami also confirmed the beheading, according to a report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

This comes after the lapse of a deadline for ransom payment for Hall, as well as two other hostages, Kjartan Sekkingstad and Marites Flor.

The Abu Sayyaf was demanding P600 million in ransom for the 3 hostages.

In April, the group killed Canadian John Ridsdel after a ransom deadline passed.

Ridsdel, Hall, Sekkingstad, and Flor were abducted in September 2015 from a resort on Samal Island, hundreds of kilometers from the Abu Sayyaf's traditional strongholds.

The group has been blamed for the worst terror attacks in Philippine history.

Although its leaders have pledged fealty to ISIS, analysts say they are more focused on lucrative kidnappings-for-ransom than on setting up a caliphate.

The Abu Sayyaf are also believed to be holding a Dutch bird-watcher and 4 Filipinos, seized in separate raids. They last released 4 Malaysian hostages last June 8. – With reports from Agence France-Presse / Rappler.com
