MANILA, Philippines – Vice presidential candidate and Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr delivers a privilege speech on Monday afternoon, May 23.
This comes after Marcos vowed to challenge every certificate of canvass once the Philippine Congress starts canvassing votes for president and vice president this week.
Marcos earlier insinuated that he had been cheated, after unofficial results transmitted by vote-counting machines to the Commission on Elections' Transparency Server showed rival Leni Robredo catching up and eventually overtaking him.
Marcos said his lead in the first few hours of transmission was diminished after Comelec and Smartmatic representatives revised the hash codes in the results server, and following a slowing down of transmission from certain provinces.
Comelec dismissed the allegation, saying the alterations in the code were purely cosmetic– correcting typographical error in candidates' names, and not the affecting the numbers. Robredo's camp, meanwhile, cautioned Marcos against conditioning the public's mind that cheating was committed.
