A note on the canvass report states that COCs from Laguna and Southern Leyte are “subject to exclusion” from the vote totals due to problems found in the COCs transmitted to PICC.

The top 12 bets in the official count are the same as those in the unofficial count via the Comelec Transparency Server, but with Drilon already overtaking Villanueva for the #1 spot with 96% of precincts reporting.

Seven candidates in the so-called “Magic 12” are part of the Senate slate of the ruling Liberal Party (LP): Villanueva, Drilon, Hontiveros, Pangilinan, Recto, De Lima, and guest candidate Lacson.

Gatchalian and Pacquiao are “exclusive” members of the 12-person slates of presidential bets Senator Grace Poe and Vice President Jejomar Binay. The remaining 3 – Sotto, Gordon, and Zubiri – are guest candidates in both slates. Lacson is also a guest candidate in Binay's slate.

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte will have to work with Congress to push his legislative agenda. As such, he will need to seek support from the LP-dominated Senate.

The Comelec is sitting as the national board of canvassers for the Senate and party-list elections. The House of Representatives will canvass the votes for President and Vice President.

The poll body is on its 4th day of canvassing the senatorial and party list votes at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The poll body expects to finish the canvass and proclaim the winners either by Tuesday, May 17, or Thursday, May 19. – Rappler.com
