Partial results: Duterte, Marcos lead overseas race

MANILA, Philippines – Rodrigo Duterte and Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. are leading the presidential and vice presidential race among overseas absentee voters (OAV), based on the first batch of results representing 0.64% of OAV votes Monday night, May 9.

According to the Commission on Election's (COMELEC) transparency server, only 0.64% of overseas absentee votes have been transmitted as of 8:49 pm, May 9. This translates to 7,582 votes reported from 8 clustered precincts. There are 1,245 clustered precincts abroad. (READ: 2016 Philippine election results)

Based on the initial results, Duterte had a wide lead with 5,096 votes (68.23%). He is followed by Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago with 999 votes (13.37%) and Liberal Party (LP) bet Mar Roxas with 708 votes (9.47%). Behind them are Senator Grace Poe with 507 votes (6.78%), and Vice President Jejomar Binay with 157 votes (2.10%).

For the vice presidential race, Marcos was the overseas Filipinos’ top bet so far with 3,673 votes (49.24%). Trailing him is Senator Alan Peter Cayetano with 2,553 votes (34.22%) while LP bet Leni Robredo is at the third spot with 896 votes (12.01%). Senators Francis Escudero, Antonio Trillanes IV and Gregorio Honasan are at the bottom 3 with 249 (3.33%), 54 (0.72%), 34 votes (0.45%), respectively.

There are 1,376,067 overseas Filipino voters registered worldwide for this election. Among them, 1,326,728 are land-based voters, while 49,339 are seafarers. 

As early as April 28, 2016, more than 200,000 overseas Filipinos had already cast their ballots. This already surpassed the voter turnout in roughly the same period in 2010 and 2013. – Rappler.com
