MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections directed the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to declare 3 areas as no-fly zones on Monday, May 9. (READ: Calendar of activities, list of bans for 2016 Philippine elections)
The 3 areas are Intramuros, the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), and the House of Representatives in Quezon City, where the canvassing of votes will be conducted after voting ends on Monday.
All kinds of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, and rotary aircraft that fly in the mentioned airspaces without clearance from the CAAP will be shot down on sight by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.
On election day, May 9, millions of Filipinos are set to vote for their chosen leaders – including president, vice president, and senators – from 6 am to 5 pm.
The Board of Canvassers will meet at 5 pm to consolidate and canvass votes after polls close. – Rappler.com
